There is a drop box in the lobby of RCE to use when you have collected 10 or more box tops. RCE gets 10¢ per box top which adds up as cash for our school! So look for these pink & blue tags when you’re purchasing groceries for your family. Often, a product will offer a special with 2 box tops.

Additionally, you can click this link: https://www.boxtops4education.com/common/Register.aspx to register for e-mail or US postal service notifications to get even more. It’s easy.

Simply enter the zip code 37683 (Mountain City), and select Roan Creek Elementary from the drop down box. Answer a few questions, and you’re registered to get bonus box tops. Note: Where it asks for # of people in your family, income, and # of children under 18, you can select ‘prefer not to answer‘ if you don’t want to give out sensitive information about your family.

So far, we’ve earned $328.00 for our school, but can always use more. Won’t you look in your cupboard & save these valuable coupons for our students at RCE. Thank you!

Did you know we can earn free money for our school, simply by grocery shopping?

The next time you shop at any Food City in Tennessee, Virginia or Kentucky, please remember to register Roan Creek Elementary (RCE) as your school of choice when using your ValuCard. Our school code is: 41153. RCE earns free dollars when you participate in this valuable program. Last year, RCE earned nearly $120.00 from the Food City in Damascus, VA!

It’s super easy, and super beneficial! When using your ValuCard at check-out, simply inform the cashier to register Roan Creek Elementary as your school of choice. Also, family members and friends who shop with their ValuCard can register RCE as well! Each time the ValuCard is used for purchases of $10.00 or more, RCE  automatically benefits! It’s simple, and our students are worth every penny we earn!

Our students begin reaping the rewards with each check-out (over $10.00). The sooner you register, the more we earn!  Thank you in advance for your participation in this valuable program from a local, privately-owned business who is giving back to our community. A special Thank you also goes out to Food City for their generosity!

Our next meeting is scheduled for Wed, 2/1.  We will be discussing the need for volunteers for an upcoming fund raiser, as well as other school-related activities. We will also be counting box tops & will appreciate any help you can offer.

Get involved in your child’s education both in and out of school by joining us monthly for our meetings. We volunteer by coordinating RCE special events like the Back-to-School bash, Fall Festival, Citizenship Awards, and simple tasks like seasonal bulletin boards! Everyone is welcome!

Roan Creek Volunteers: Parents Helping Parents So Students Succeed!

We have a small, but mighty group of volunteers who assist us in all kinds of necessary areas. From testing students on vocabulary words, making copies for teachers, short supervision of classes for testing days, there are many small ways you can help our hard-working  teachers.

We realize that the day does NOT end for teachers at 3 pm when that final bell tolls! It is often a small, simple task: displaying the students’ work outside of the classroom or helping out while the teacher does weekly testing, or simply tutoring a struggling child, yet, the smallest involvement, helps educate your children because it helps our teachers do what they do best: TEACH!

Your student will be thrilled to see you ‘working’ in their school! As a parent/grandparent, you already have the skills and experience to help, plus you will be richly rewarded knowing you are making a difference! A short training program is required, and then you’re on your way to being A ROAN CREEK VOLUNTEER!

• Dads (or grandads) who want to make a real difference in the lives of all RCE students, are asked to become a member of our Dad Squad.  You are rewarded while just directing traffic – foot and vehicle – in the mornings or at evening school events. Often, our Dads get to teach the students about safety or even mentor a child in need of a buddy.  We can always use a hand, and your child will love to brag that their dad (or grand-dad) is a contributing member of our Squad! It won’t take much time, and you will really be filling a need for our school. If you are inclined to help, don’t hesitate to contact RoseEdda Slemp (423) 727-4964. We’d love to welcome you as a valuable member of our Dad Squad.

Each time you attend a meeting, you will receive free tickets for a drawing. The winner gets a $10 gift certificate to Side Board Cafe (formerly Gadabouts/ Cook’s Cafeteria). A new drawing will be held each month, and your odds of winning are very good … compliments from We The Parents… Wednesdays!

Refreshments are provided at each meeting. Note: Pre-school children may attend, and we request that they have supervision for the duration of the meeting.
